Well, its been quite a while hasn't it? Maybe its the weather demanding tropical surf wax, or the skillet flat Atlantic, but I have brewed up quite the urge to surf. With the best looking E swell on the way I went into cross training mode today. Though a creeping feeling tells me there is no escape from a few whallops later this week.
With that said, those who feel tuned and in high gear with thier body's are welcome to demo a board for free @ Straws point Wednesday 4-7. I'll have the whole quiver down with me tomorrow afternoon to welcome the waves. Juli will be there as well to help with the credit card processing.... naaa it's FREE.

Fully Stoked
Dylan Ladds and Ryan Scura, are two prodigy film makers from Concord, NH. Their current project,
The Granite Stoke is a documentary on the NH surf community. It has been my pleasure getting to know and work with them over the past month. They have filmed and documented Squared Surfboards in the most professional, creative and enthusiastic way possible. I am both honored and flattered that they have chosen me as a subject for The Granite Stoke.
For the first time ever, I am pleased to show these surfboards in motion...Enjoy all of the video clips and photography these guys have captured and posted: http://thegranitestoke.blogspot.com/.
A Huge Thank You to Dylan and Ryan for their Time and Effort!

1,000 words
I would like to thank Ron, Laurie, and Matt from Daily Designs for sharing their incredible talent in photography, and the use of their wood shop. These photos document the four boards I have built to date.
This is the first wood board I ever made! Single fin, single concave, 6'0'' Fish. The flat shaped rail generates a ton of speed. This board is unique with a Maple veneer and an Ebony leash peg.
This is the second board I've made. Turning heads and raising questions, this board resembles its predecessor only in profile. A double concave followed by a deep single concave, leading to a v-shaped tail, this 5'10'' weighs 12.5 lbs, is very low in volume and best suited in larger off-shore conditions. From this board forward, a double leash peg design and White Oak veneer were the standard choice.
With a new profile, the same construction was applied to this 7'2" 15.5 lbs thruster. There is ample nose rocker, a subtle concave through the middle and a flat tail.
This is a single fin 6'10" 15 lbs board. The bottom contour is a watered down version of my second board, with minor double concave to a single concave flattening toward the tail. This board has the most tail volume for a little extra push in weaker wave conditions.

Portland pics
I recently took a trip with Juli up to Portland to visit some friends. Justin asked me to bring along one of my boards for a photo op and he did an incredible job. Be sure to click on this link to his blog for the shots he got that weekend as well as some other mind melting photography. Thanks Justin, keep it snapping!

Bio-Degradable
How I got here, depends on where I am…
I started surfing on a foam board that I hand shaped myself, the “Moondrop” 6’ 5” basic squash tail, original graphics and messy first time glass job, I could not have been more proud of that board. I attended the Landing School in Kennebunk, ME. Living half a mile from the beach was unlike anything else. A few important things happened while I was in Maine: I built a couple of boats, I improved my surfing, and Clarke Foam shut down. Suddenly, the board I built and learned to surf on gave me more questions than answers. So after graduating from the Landing School, I was inspired to create a wooden board that utilized cold molded decks with a solid steam bent rail. It would still be over a year of designing before my first board took shape.
Since 2008, I have surfed these hand made boards in all surf conditions, from 3 feet and messy to 7 feet and clean. The boards perfomance are their greatest strength, fast and powerful, they are a blast on any size day. Made entirely of wood, these boards have greater resistance to dings that occur out of the water. Capturing the memory of each trees life, your sure to feel the energy of the wood in each ride.
